Tuesday July 5th: from New Town, ND to Underwood, ND or ... Brother Jacob!

It must be said: our destination of today Underwood rhymes with the dutch word (dialect) "underhoet", meaning underwear. So my woman has this notion going around in her brains all day long. Maybe it's because she hasn't had a restful sleep yet.

Breakfast is eggs with toast and a flash of lightning... is it going to rain today?

The two women cycle together again - on the ribbon of road, as George the router calls it.

Next to his explanation each evening, we also get a route sheet each day. It tells us where to turn, when to have a "heads up" and what dinner is going to be.

The first waterstop - about 1/4 of the way - was taken over by the mosquitoes. As my boss has already many bites, she skipped the stop.

Suddenly I hear singing along the road: my woman is teaching Melanie "Brother Jacob". I guess the scenery is not too interesting today. Luckily the wind picks up and so does the speed of the cycling.

Ryder has one coffee place and it was the meeting point of several CA-cyclists. My boss has also some mail to send home.

The aid station offers us a variety of sandwiches but hey... I do not like mayonaise on them. Just give me some good dog food like a peice of meat and I'll be happy!

From Douglas the traffic gets busier and the side wind is not helping much anymore.

I can tell my boss is getting hungry ... a turkey and egg salad sandwich (again), a pasta salad, vegetable soup and fruit... this cannot go wrong.
