Thursday, July 7th : Carrington, ND to Cooperstown, ND ... or We can sleep in!
Yeah... at last ... instead of getting up at 6 am, my boss sleeps in. Breakfust runs from 7am till 8.30 am. So there's no need to hurry too much.
I notice most humans have already eaten and are on their way. So we'll be in the back of the pack - again.
The ride starts in the rain, so I won't be sitting in the front of the saddle bag.
All day long it kept raining and raining.
Halfway the route we met up with some other riders in some kind of café. My boss ordered a sandwich with hot minced meat, a cold macaroni and a mars bar. What a combination of food. But I could tell she enjoyed her meal.
My boss hardly stopped along the way: the pedals just kept moving and moving while she moved through the downpour, which seemed to keep on going. She noticed lots of worms on the roadsurface... they were probably trying to swim away to a dryer place which did not exist. She hardly glanced up to look around. A fixed grin of determination on her face.
Once in the school she took a hot shower, hung her clothes around the gym to dry and went for dinner (chicken and beans).
After the meeting the coast-2-coaster gave a show on the gym podium - it was rather funny. Slowly my boss gets to know more people (and their names).
I can sense my boss is proud of herself after being in the rain for 50 miles. Good job!
